Well, if it isn't the old Grok Master himself. Good to see you surface. I hope all is well and that some of the past ripples have smoothed out.

Still the same one over at Chatzy, no change to address. Activity has definitely waned somewhat, but those who still come by the bar are by and large good peeps.

Apologies for spacing... this keyboard is really sticky

That's right, skies! Make way for us in the under 30 crowd!

As my professor said today, "The problem is that we are sticking around here way too long (because of modern medicine) and not giving enough of a chance to the young people to do things in a new way".

Check out this clip from a classic Sci-Fi movie from the 70's - Logan Run.

'Hope I die before I get old' - Pete Townshend, 64.

Funny, the older I get the less inclined I feel to make way for the young. Your cohort aren't the first members of the under-30s club, though its pretty much human nature to feel as if you are. The thing is there's not a lot you can do to prevent your membership being ultimately revoked. Well, there is one thing, but it rather disbars you from joining in with anything else ever.

We're all on the same journey.

Old farts reserve the right to make a stink. I'm not there yet, so welcome youngster.

Just curious...

Ha! My sons and I watched that movie a few times in their youth...always a good time followed by production of cardboard swords and shields for the backyard reenactments...

"Do you like snails?"

Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier, Jean Simmons (nice), Charles Laughton, Peter Ustinov, John Gavin, Nina Foch, John Ireland, Herbert Lom (!?)...

The image of you and your sons having at it with cardboard weaponry has given me one of those warm fuzzy feelings that will help to offset my choleric outbursts elsewhere. Thanks, WT, you're one of the best.

I fear my comments have portrayed me as some kind of agist. (like sexist or racist but for age)

I don't want really want the older population to move on faster... I am just often frustrated by the lack of change in the operations of companies and governments. I think a great deal of this is the inability of some people to let go of their conceptions of the what the world is/should be and to realize that things are changing faster than ever.

Of course this is the naturally conservative nature of the older generation rearing its ugly head. But there's gotta be some give and take - if you never pay attention or respect the traditions then you are bound for failure as well.

Something I think is really lacking (at least in the USA and Canada, from my experience) is inter-generational knowledge transfer. As salaries have increased and societal norms changed, grandparents now rarely live with their grandkids. I was essentially raised by my grandparents, while I know some people that see theirs maybe once a month?

What a weird time we are going through right now ... there is a great movement in the youth to recover the skills of our great grandparents - in taking the responsibility of feeding ourselves once again (and not just going to the supermarket).

Hey you , DeadPolitics ! You are a fine youth , i always knew that . Now there is something wrong in this world we are in ,here and it doesn't have to be the way it goes ,never for the young nor the elderly ,and frankly not being a preaching hypocrit i don't care if you are or not racist ,agist, or whatever . Nobody can care about evrybody else ,that resumes what getting older taught me .

Send me a postcard, drop me a line,
Stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, Wasting Away.

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?
